Venet - Masterplan 2023

Venet Bergbahnen AG has been operating a ropeway on the Venet in the Upper Inn Valley since 1968. Over the years, the winter sports offer was initially expanded through the construction of additional lifts. In recent years, the year-round offer has also been successively expanded, e.g. through the construction of the Venet summit hut, the planetarium, the connection to the European long-distance hiking trail E5 and the operation of a mountain cart track. Despite these measures, no sustainable positive economic effect has been achieved, so that the tourism board and the three local communities of Zams, Landeck and Fliess have to compensate high losses every year.

The aim of the master plan, which Montenius Consult developed together with Klenkhart & Partner, is to investigate which structural measures will enable sustainable economic operation on the Venet in the future. Building on the technical master plan, Montenius Consult focused on investigating the associated market and demand potential as well as the economic viability of various development and deconstruction options.

The results were presented to the supervisory board and the municipal councils in summer 2023 and serve as a basis for political decision-making and the financing of upcoming investments.
